Over 40 years of operation, a sudden change in clientele forced the owners of this SME to look for new options.
My initial task was to find, analyse and report financial information. Identifying that the current application was an ageing and vulnerable system led to my appointment to source and implement new Job Management software of today’s technology with Customer Relations Management and comprehensive Stock Control components, and a new financial application; preferably the systems would interact.
Previous high business risk due to possible data manipulation and unavailability of crucial financial information is eliminated with the introduction of high performing systems and appropriate access point allocations. The introduction of assembly items (Kit-sets) within the Product module have streamlined the manufacturing process, eliminating business risk of one-person-knowledge. A late decision was made to keep the applications separate, which provides an additional level of cross referenced reconciliation preventing manipulation of financial data.
